Building a Wedding at The Bordone, Start to Finish
If I could return to one wedding, it would be Kelly and Nick's at The Bordone in Long Island City. It was a full production, layered with detail and moments that still stay with me. I planned and designed every part of the day, but I wasn't at the venue for the install. My place was with the couple at a nearby hotel, helping them get ready and keeping the morning calm and unhurried ahead of the ceremony. Back at The Bordone, my team was building everything we had designed together. I checked in throughout the day, but the work was in their hands, and I trusted it there.The Set Up - Watch Video
When I finally walked in and saw it all standing, finished and exactly as imagined, I cried. It was joy, and some relief too.
That day taught me something I still carry. You have to let go of control. No wedding rests on one person. It is built by a group of people, and the ones you choose to work with, vendors who share your vision and your standards, are what allow everything to come together the way it should.
